A body plane is an imaginary flat surface used to define a particular area of anatomy.

 

Frontal or Coronal Plane:

The frontal plane divides the front and back of the body.

 

Median or Midsagittal Plane:

The median plane divides the left and right sides of the body.

 

Transverse or Horizontal Plane:

The transverse plane divides the body at the waist; top and bottom of the body.
